At 10:30am, a reading of "Beauty Queen of Leenane", followed by our production of "A Skull in Connemara" at 2:00pm, go get dinner and be back for our 6:00pm reading of "Lonesome West" by the cast of our award-winning production of 2006. Those who purchase tickets to our 2pm show will have first priority to see the readings, otherwise they are first-come, first-served and free!
The Play:
Rowdy and boisterous, chilling and funny, "A Skull in Connemara" smashes auld Ireland into the modern world. Every fall Mick Dowd digs up old bones in the cemetery to make way for the new corpses. As the time comes for him to dig up bones of his dead wife, rumors and accusations surface about Mick's involvement in her death. This dark comedy about murder, theft, bingo, bone crushing and hamster cooking is written by one of Ireland's most acclaimed playwrights.
A Skull in Connemara is the second play in McDonagh's award winning trilogy, which includes: The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Lonesome West.
The Playwright:
Martin McDonagh (Playwright) has written numerous plays including The Lonesome West (Tony nominee, Best Play 1999), The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Tony nominee, Best Play 1999), The Lieutenant of Inishmore (Olivier Award winner, Best Comedy 2003) and The Pillowman which was a Tony nominee for Best Play 2005 and an Olivier Award winner in 2004. Other works include Suicide on Sixth Street, Shit on Illinois, Seven Psychopaths, In Bruges and Six-Shooter (Oscar-Best Short 2006).
