Third Rail has always been a big fan of Craig Wright, our most frequently produced playwright. Now he's a fan of us! After seeing our award-winning production of his play Grace, he offered to pen a script specifically for Third Rail's luminous actresses.

In The Gray Sisters, four sisters unravel their family's history, and in the process grapple with questions of love, loyalty, faith, and fate.

Join us as we introduce a new work to the canon of American Drama.

Reviews:

...The Gray Sisters is kept firmly planted by the brave performances of its four lead actresses, and the localism of the story, which is set in Portland and hand-crafted for us by Craig Wright and Third Rail Rep. - Portland Monthly Magazine

THIRD RAIL REPERTORY'S history with playwright Craig Wright—which dates back to their first production, Wright's Recent Tragic Events—comes to a sort of fruition with The Gray Sisters, a script Wright wrote for (and in collaboration with) Third Rail's actresses. - The Portland Mercury

Third Rail Repertory’s rapid growth from a scrappy ensemble co-producing with CoHo to a beloved pillar of Portland’s theater scene has a lot to do with Craig Wright. ... To finish its fifth season, Third Rail commissioned Wright to create a play just for the company’s actresses—Stephanie Gaslin, Maureen Porter, Valerie Stevens and Gretchen Corbett. - Willamette Week

Seldom will you find such open space used as boldly -- or as extensively -- as in "The Gray Sisters," the gripping drama by Craig Wright given its world premiere Friday by Third Rail Repertory Theatre. - The Oregonian

For Wright, the decision to work with Third Rail was an easy one. "Just the fact that they started their company with one of my plays and had shown a commitment to my work deserved a commitment in return," he says. - Oregon Live

Third Rail’s new show is a must see. It is the artistic event of the season. With this production, Portland’s leading theatre group puts themselves not just on the local map – for they’ve been there since 2005. They get on the national map. And perhaps beyond. - Win Goodbody
